Welcome to Urology North, the Private Practice of Mr Stephen J.S. Brough, Consultant Urological Surgeon.

HoLEP (Laser TURP)

Mr Brough has been performing this operation at the LGH for the last 10 years. He is delighted to announce that he can now offer this procedure to Private Patients at Calvary St Vincent’s Hospital.

HoLEP is the “rebore” operation to relieve symptoms due to benign prostate enlargement. Compared to a standard operation, the laser causes less bleeding and reduces the patient’s hospital stay to one night.

Please refer to the laser surgery section on this web site.

Urological Surgeons, or Urologists, are specialists trained in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the kidneys, adrenal glands, bladder, prostate, urethra, penis, testes and scrotum.

Urologists undergo undergraduate medical training and approximately 10 years of postgraduate study of which at least five are dedicated to Urology. They treat patients of all ages, women as well as men.

The conditions they manage include cancers, stones, benign enlargement of the prostate, functional bladder disorders such as incontinence and some congenital problems in children.
